Have you played around with Hyperlapse yet? Don’t wait too long. You are going to want to integrate Instagram’s new time-lapse video-making app with your digital and social media efforts.

Use Hyperlapse to quickly present your unique POV.  My first Hyperlapse video clearly shows what it means NOT be the fastest cyclist on the Valley Forge bike trail with the help of some Hyperlapse exaggeration 🙂

Utilize Hyperlapse to showcase what you and your organization can offer that others cannot. For example, I am really good at chasing away seagulls.

Hyperlapse a day in the life of the work that you do (without boring viewers with 10 hours of footage).  A day in the life of an average seagull on Chincoteague Island, Va., looks something like this:

Hyperlapse is easy to use, and it provides the filters and editing tools you need to make the video short that is right for you. You can share your slowed-down or sped-up Hyperlapse videos on Instagram and Facebook. You can also upload your Hyperlapse short on YouTube and further its reach on Twitter, Google+, etc. Just make sure not to give your viewers motion sickness 😉

4 Summer #Social Takeaways

I still can’t believe today is the last day of July. Once August begins, Thanksgiving always seems to be right around the corner. Thankfully we still have August because I’m not done with summer yet! I hope you all have the opportunity to take some time off and rejuvenate seaside or wherever your heart desires.

This month I took some time to reflect on the social media work and promotion I accomplished with my clients so far this summer.  We have gotten a lot done, and we are on track to make more authentic connections and increase visibility for the amazing work they are doing. Here are the four lessons I will be taking with me during our next phase of work together:

  1. Don’t forget where you came from. Do you remember the first person who took the plunge and liked your Facebook page (excluding your mother)? Is she or he still following you today? Are they engaging with your page? Make sure to show appreciation to the folks who were there when you were still getting your social feet wet.
  2. Try new things. Keep your social streams fresh. You don’t want your followers to get bored with your posts — or worse, your organization. Experiment with video, photos with creative perspectives, promotional hash tags, and more. Always keep your social pages worthwhile.
  3. Keep on swimming (tweeting and posting). Don’t let all the great work you’ve done up to this point go by the wayside because you’ve reached the number of followers you wanted or your sales goal. Social relationships flatline very quickly when you’re not…being social. Keep producing quality posts, sharing consistently, and engaging according to best practices. If you can’t, use the extra money you earned from reaching your sales goal to get some help.
  4. Remember what’s important: Engagement. We should all strive to gain new followers — after all, new followers can often lead to more word-of-mouth customers and more sales. But if you’re attracting new followers who are not interested in engaging with your posts or becoming your next brand advocate, then what’s the point?
